A graphic design job starts with work people can see. Magazines, packages, posters and screens are made by someone who can take a brief, choose type, and finish a file that prints or publishes without a rescue.
Build a small portfolio, not a huge one. Six pieces is enough if each one has a reason: a logo and where it lives, a poster, a social set, a multi-page layout, a retouch, and one piece you are proud of. Write two lines on the problem and what you changed. Employers in India see a lot of tutorial recreations. Original briefs, even invented ones, read as stronger.
Learn Photoshop and Illustrator properly, and one layout tool. Then apply. Placement help matters, and so does showing up with files that open. Pepper Animation’s Placement Cell works with students who have finished the work, not only attended the hours.
